What's the ground like:

Three new stands built in recent years have transformed Field Mill. The North Stand, which now houses away fans, and the Quarry Lane End have been redeveloped as similar single-tiered stands, while the West Stand on one side of the pitch, a cantilevered two-tiered stand, opened in 2001 and accommodates 5,500 people. Opposite this is the Bishop Street Stand that runs only half the length of the pitch and remains closed for most games.

Where to drink?

The Early Doors pub, situated across from the ground, is away-fan friendly. Also try The Famous Talbot, about 50 yards away. The Cross Bar, under the West Stand, welcomes away supporters.

Where to eat?

Both the above pubs do food, while they are numerous takeaway/fast food outlets on the nearby retail park.

How to get there by car and where to park:

From the north, leave the M1 at junction 29 and take the A617 towards Mansfield. After about six miles turn right into Rosemary Street and proceed to Quarry Lane. From the south, leave the M1 at junction 28, take the A38 towards the town, turning off into Belvedere Road after about six miles. Quarry Lane is a right turn about a quarter of a mile along. There is a small car park at the ground available on a first-come first-served basis and which costs £2.50. Nearby there are several pay and display car parks costing around 60p an hour. Visitors are advised not to park at the retail park, where they risk being clamped.

Nearest train station and directions: Mansfield Station is a five-minute walk away.

Admission prices:

Adults £16-17; senior citizens/students £10-11; under-16s £6-7

Local rivals: Notts County, Chesterfield

Record attendance: 24,467 v Nottingham Forest, FA Cup third round, January 10, 1953
