Daryl Clare
A late strike from Daryl Clare could not rescue Burton Albion from defeat against an upbeat Ebbsfleet United side at Stonebridge Road on Saturday afternoon.
The home side opened the scoring on 13 minutes when Neil Barrett scored a rather wonderful solo effort from 20 yards out.
The rest of the first-half provided the 1385 fans watching the fixture with very little to shout about as both side's promised lots, but provided very little.
The second-half was a different story, however, as both side's looked eager to add to their goals scored column.
John Akinde did just that in the 68th minute for the home side when he slotted home from close range.
The second United goal seemed to knock the stuffing out of the visitors, but a late strike from Clare set up the final few minutes.
But those closing exchanges once again provided very little as the home side cruised to victory.
