Ebbsfleet squeezed past Eastbourne Borough and climbed out of the relegation zone in a 1-0 win at Priory Lane on Thursday night.
The hosts made six changes to the starting line-up that eased past Crawley on Tuesday and were unable to trouble the visitors' goal in the encounter.
Despite a number of crucial saves from Sports stopper Michael Jordan, Michael Gash got the better off him in the 56th minute.
Luke Moore nodded an inviting pass to Gash, after Marc Pullan allowed a ball to bounce over his head and the striker made no mistake from close range.
It was a deserved victory for the Fleet, who created several chances through Gash, Neil Jenkins and Leon Crooks.
The result sees them leap into 16th spot.
