Ebbsfleet Utd 0-1 Tamworth

Gary Mills' Tamworth moved up to mid-table in the Blue Square Premier standings with a narrow victory over 10-man Ebbsfleet at Stonebridge Road on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts started brightly as Tamworth goalkeeper Danny Alcock was twice forced into action by Ricky Shakes in the opening ten minutes of play.

Alcock did well to deny Ross Smith's header and an effort from Stefan Bailey minutes later as Ebbsfleet piled on the pressure.

Ebbsfleet's Brazilian striker Magno Vieira saw his 26th minute effort cannon off the foot of the post and Gavin Heeroo's follow-up was saved by Alcock.

However, it was the Lambs who drew first blood just one minute later when Bradley Pritchard latched onto an inviting pass from Nick Wright before firing past the onrushing Lance Cronin from 12 yards.

Ebbsfleet's luck didn't change in the second period and their frustration grew as they struggled to get the better of their opponents.

Their chances of drawing level took a major knock in the 79th minute when Darius Charles was shown a straight red card for dissent after fouling Tamworth's Iyesden Christie.

And Tamworth held firm to collect all three points and secure only their second away victory of the campaign.

Ebbsfleet bookings: Charles (Sent Off: 80mins).

Tamworth bookings: Smith, Wylde.

Ref: M Thompson (England).

Att: 867.
