Ebbsfleet 2-1 Stevenage

Midfielder Stefan Bailey was the hero for Ebbslfeet United on Tuesday evening as he netted a second-half brace to help his side defeat Stevenage at Stonebridge Road.

High-flying Stevenage started brightly and broke the deadlock in the 21st minute when Yemi Odubade's deflected 20-yard shot looped over goalkeeper Lance Cronin.

Ebbsfleet had a great chance to draw level in the 37th minute but Leon Crooks saw his header from deep inside the area drift wide of the left-hand upright.

Stevenage looked to be on course for another home victory but they were left reeling when Ebbsfleet drew level just two minutes after the restart.

Magno Vieira's initial effort was parried by Boro goalkeeper Chris Day and Bailey was perfectly placed to tap home the rebound.

And six minutes later the Fleet supporters were celebrating wildly as Bailey converted a Peter Holmes cross with a smart finish from close range.

Stevenage striker Charlie Griffin had a glorious opportunity to level the scores in the 62nd minute but headed wide of the target from inside the area.

However, Ebbsfleet held firm to deny their opponents in the second period and record back-to-back wins in the space of a week.

Ebbsfleet bookings: None.

Stevenage bookings: Laird, Bostwick, Murphy.

Ref: S Ross (Boston).

Att: 836.
