Ebbsfleet Utd 1-4 Barrow

Nick Chadwick scored a hat-trick as Barrow defeated Ebbsfleet 4-1 on Saturday to move out of the relegation zone.

Moses Ashikodi grabbed the only goal for the Fleet with Jason Walker netting Barrow's fourth from the penalty spot.

The home side started brightly and may have taken the lead through Magno Vieira after just two minutes but goalkeeper Tim Deasy was on hand to deny the pacy striker with an outstretched boot after Jordan Collins had put him through on goal.

Deasy again denied Vieira after he played a neat one-two with Ricky Shakes before curling a shot across goal. Deasy got down well to palm the ball around the far post.

Barrow found their early chances limited and scored with virtually their first attack on 27 minutes as Chadwick headed home a cross from Walker, who had burst down the left.

And within two minutes, Barrow had scored their second. This time it was Carlos Logan with cross from the right that Chadwick got his head to under very little pressure from the United defence.

Fleet keeper Lance Cronin did well to keep it to just two when he denied Walker just before the break, while after the restart Collins came close to getting his side back in to the tie with a half-volley that Deasy did well to keep out.

Vieira failed to make the most of another chance with 30 minutes of the match remaining before Chadwick put the game beyond doubt in the 68th minute with another header as Paul Rutherford swung the ball in from the left.

Ebbsfleet finally found the back of the net in the 75th minute Ashikodi powered home a header of his own from a Peter Holmes free-kick but the game swung back in Barrow favour as Chadwick's late shot hit the arm of Leon Crooks. Walker stepped up to convert the spot kick with just seven minutes to go.

The result ended Fleet's run of five wins in six matches that had moved them eight points away from the relegation zone.
