What's The Ground Like?

The ground is undergoing some development at the moment as a new 500 seated stand is being constructed next to the Main Stand. The Main Stand is a traditional looking stand that is covered and all seated. It only runs for about a third of the length of the pitch and straddles the half way line. The seated area is elevated above the pitch meaning that spectators have to climb a small set of stairs in front to access it. There are windshields to either side and the Club's offices are located in the building behind. Opposite is another small seated stand which is covered and looks quite tidy. Both ends are virtually identical small covered terraces, that look to have been recently constructed. The ground is completed with a set of eight floodlights, four of which run down each side of the pitch. There is quite a lot of greenery to be seen around the perimeter of the ground, re-enforcing its rural look.

Where to Eat & Drink?

The ground is situated on the outskirts of a village, so eating establishments seem to be thin on the ground. There is a pub called the Railway Vue on Station Road. It is about a 5-10 minute walk away. From the entrance of the ground turn right and head along Bridge Road. Turn left at the next set of traffic lights and then left again into Station Road. The pub is down on the left.

How to Get There by Car & Where to Park

Histon is situated just north of Cambridge. The ground is located on the outskirts of the nearby village of Impington. Leave the M11 and take the A14 towards Newmarket. At Junction 32 take the B1049 towards Histon. You will pass a Holiday Inn on your right and then the road goes over an old Railway Line. The entrance to the ground is just down on the right, just before the pedestrian crossing. If you start driving past houses then you have gone too far!

There is no car parking available at the ground for visiting supporters. There is though plenty of street parking available.

Nearest Train Station

There is no longer a railway station in Histon. The nearest station is in Cambridge. The Citi 7 bus regularly runs from Cambridge station to Histon/Impington (the ground is in Impington).

"The impressively named Glassworld Stadium isn't so impressive when you get there. It is located just off the Northern Cambridge bypass on the edge of a couple of pretty villages called Histon and Impington. This club is the typical example of a small club made good because of the money put into it by a local businessman and now the ecomnomic situation is beginning to bite. It will need to undergo some amazing development if it is to come up to even the basic standards of the Conference. It is little more than a deluxe county ground and unfortunatey that is what Histon will be seen as. Well done that it has got this far."

"our ground has senn more changes, the 500 seater redgate stand was completed a year ago, 600 seats have also been added along the opposite side of the pitch, and the terracing behind both the home and away ends have been extended. new toilets are now in the redgate stand and the away end"
