Boro's Morison hands in transfer request

Stevenage Borough striker Steve Morison has been linked with a move to Crewe Alexandra after handing in a transfer request this week.

The London-born striker has scored 22 league goals this season but that alone was not enough to earn Stevenage a place in the promotion play-offs.

Morison has made no secret of his desire to return to the Football League and as a result has decided to seek a move away from Broadhall Way.

"It's nothing against the club," Morison told the Hertfordshire Mercury after being quizzed on his decision to leave.

"I've been here two years and think I've done well, but I want to play in the league and prove I can score goals there.

"I've always given everything and tried to score as many goals as I can and if I'm still at Stevenage next season I'll do the same."

However, Morison is still under contract and the Blue square Premier club are yet to accept or decline his request.
