Buckle: Gulls still have work to do

As huge as the victory was against fierce local rivals Exeter City on Thursday night, Gulls manager Paul Buckle is refusing to get complacent ahead of Monday's decider at Plainmoor.

Torquay United's Paul Buckle must be wearing lead boots after remaining the calmest man in Devon, when seeing the Gulls snatch a late, late winner against fierce rivals Exeter City on Thursday evening in the Blue Square Premier League play-off first leg.

Buckle kept a remarkably philosophical view despite the nature of the vital and late manner in which United won the game, when revealing - "If we had lost today it would not be over, and it is not over because we've won. We really have done nothing yet, nothing at all."

And on the winning goal that secured the last gasp win, Buckle commented - "I like my strikers to shut down goalkeepers because it doesn't cost nothing. We did shut him down and Zeb's got his rewards."

Meanwhile, in the other Blue Square Premier League play-off semi final first leg between Burton Albion and Cambridge United, the game has been left nicely poised, after four goals were shared in a 2-2 draw ahead of the clash at the Abbey Stadium this coming Tuesday.
