Cambridge knock out determined Burton

Cambridge United booked their place in the Blue Square Premier play-off final after a 2-1 victory over Burton Albion.

The game kicked off with matters poised on a knife edge, what with the scores being level. But within moments fate had smiled benevolently on the eventual winners.

The Dons made their intentions clear from the kick-off and Robert Wolleaston put them ahead after just 30 seconds, with the Burton side visibly reeling after what must have felt like the ultimate sucker-punch..

Burton, though, were not to be subdued that easily and were soon level as Daryl Clare headed home on 15 minutes.

The Brewers thought the game was there for the taking but when Wolleaston's cross-come shot deceived goalkeeper Kevin Poole and dropped over him into the net just after the hour mark the writing was on the wall as they were left contemplating what might have been.

Cambridge held on to claim the win and book their place at Wembley on 18th May, when they will face Exeter City with the prize being a a return to the Football League.
