Steve Morison
Football League clubs have been put on alert with news that Stevenage Borough have placed wantaway striker Steve Morison on the transfer list.
The London-born frontman joined Boro early in the 2006-07 season after making a name for himself at Hertfordshire rivals, Bishop's Stortford.
Morison has been a consistent performer for Stevenage in the past two campaigns, bagging 57 goals in under 100 first-team appearances.
However, with Stevenage missing out on the play-offs once again, the striker has decided that his future lies elsewhere.
Chairman Phil Wallace told the club's official website: "Steve handed me a written transfer request on the Monday after our last game.
"I told him it wasn't the time or place and that I wouldn't consider it until we'd appointed a new manager.
"I fully understand his point that he's ready for League One or the Championship and 57 goals in two seasons can't be argued with.
"But we love him as a player and he's our best chance of promotion from this league so we've accepted it reluctantly.
"We don't want to deny him the chance to improve himself a couple of levels above providing the terms are right for everyone.
"We've not circulated League Two clubs as Steve didn't see that as a career move for him from Stevenage and if we don't get the right offer then he's happy to stay and give everything next season to get us up."
