This Is York understands that York City manager Colin Walker 'will be given the funds to sign a goalkeeper if first-choice Michael Ingham is ruled out for the start of the new season'.

Cambridge United trialist Tom Youngs hopes he has done enough to impress manager Gary Brabin and earn a deal with the U's.

He told Cambridge Evening News: "It was literally 'come along and see if anything could happen', but I don't know if it will come to anything.

"I think the axe could be swinging over me as I speak, not helped by Friday's game (against Braintree) being off."

This Is South Devon believes that former Aldershot and Northampton Town centre-half Brett Johnson could find himself landing a Torquay United deal ahead of the new campaign after his role in the pre-season game against Truro City.

The BBC reports that Mansfield Town are on the verge of snapping up defensive midfielder Gavin Hurren and defender Alan O'Hare after successful trials at Field Mill.

Meanwhile, left winger Craig Nelthorpe could also be in line for a spell with the Stags after joining the club on trial from Doncaster Rovers.

Weymouth are likely to offer trialist goalkeeper Richard Bernard an extended stay at the Wessex Stadium after his solid display against Yeovil Town.
