Gleeson called up for England 'C'

Cambridge United's consistent right back Dan Gleeson has been called up to represent England's non-league finest for a trip to Eastern Europe in mid-September.

Cambridge United's Dan Gleeson has been called up to a squad of 16 that will travel to Bosnia & Herzegovina for the England 'C' outift.

'Glees' has been ever present this season for the U's, and has been a regular performer for non-league's premier National side since re-signing for Cambridge two years ago.

The match, which will be played in the Grbavica Stadium in Sarajevo on Tuesday 16 September, will be against the Bosnian A2 squad which is in effect their second string team and is used as a bridge between their Under-21 side and the senior team.

Despite this, England 'C' have opted for an 'under-23' policy on their squad selection for the trip to Bosnia-Herzegovina.

'C' team gaffer Paul Fairclough told FA website: "We have lost a number of players from the squad which has taken us to within a point of qualifying for the International Challenge Trophy final.

"This fixture gives me an ideal opportunity to look at some new players prior to the Italy game later in the year."
