Chanot ecstatic with debut

Mansfield Town new signing Maxime Chanot was ecstatic after his first game for the club.

The 18-year-old Frenchman, who signed on loan form Championship team Sheffield United, earned himself the man-of-the-match accolade in his first game for the club.

Chanot was brought into the team to replace injured captain Adie Moses in central defence.

"I am happy with how I played for my first start, but I will be giving the bottle away to my parents because I don't drink alcohol," Chanot told thisisnottingham.

"It is disappointing to lose in my first game but we have another game coming up soon and we have to forget about this one. I didn't think we deserved to lose, but sometimes that is how it goes in football.

"I didn't think it was a foul for the penalty either but on the pitch the referee is the boss."

Chanot, who was a regular in the Sheffield reserve side, is unsure as to how long he will be staying at Field Mill but says he would like to stick around for a while.

"It was not easy in my first game and much harder than I thought it would be," he added.

"It is much harder than the reserve team football I have played. Everyone goes for it 100% and it is more physical. I'm not sure what will happen. I am here for a month and that will be good experience.

"If Mansfield want, then I would stay a bit more, but I don't know what Sheffield United want to do with me."

Chanot will be looking to make another major impression when his team travel to Stevenage on Tuesday night.
