Evans decides against the axe

Crawley Town manager Steve Evans has decided against making several changes to his squad following Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Burton.

The Reds will tackle Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday night and the mentor admitted he was keen on freshening up his table-topping starting XI.

However, Evans is now expected to name an unchanged side with Lewis Killeen (ankle) and Isaiah Rankin (hamstring) still on the sidelines.

He told The Argus: "I had two thoughts after Saturday. I had a couple of changes in mind but if you are one of the players who has helped us go nine games unbeaten then you would consider it harsh to be dropped after one defeat.

"It's going to be a good test for us to see if we can bounce back.

"The lads were very quiet on the way back from Burton, as you would expect, but they were bubbly again in training yesterday and ready to re-focus and hopefully start another unbeaten run.

"It's a game we are looking forward to. You get excited by every match when you are top because the objective is to stay there, but we know how difficult that will be.

"We have two home games coming up and we're looking for six points. If that happens we would have been top for a month which is fantastic and something no one would have expected at the start of the season."
