Evans: Fleet are under-achievers

Crawley Town boss Steve Evans has labelled tonights clash with Ebbsfleet United as 'the over-achievers against the under-achievers'.

This bold statement comes on the eve of the televised match-up between the Reds and Ebbsfleet at Broadfield Stadium, and it is a game that Evans is expecting to win.

Evans feels that his side have done a tremendous job to get where they are this season and is hoping that his chargers can push on towards the play-off places, starting with a win against the Fleet tonight.

"We had a look at Ebbsfleet at the start of the season. Paul Parker who is a pundit on Setanta TV, he's in love with Ebbsfleet, and he tipped them to be up there challenging," Evans told the Crawley Observer.

"If we are over-achieving this season then they are under-achieving.

"They are owned by the fans and they help fund the budget but it has not worked for them this year.

"We know what they are about and we will be ready for them."

Crawley looked to be heading towards a well-deserved win on Saturday, but a late Cambridge United equaliser kept Evans' men just out of the play-off places.

Evans is looking to his men to mount one final push leading up to the congested Christmas period.

"Alex Ferguson talks about February and March as a crucial stage of the season but they finish later.

"Our season finishes in April and the big time is now.

"We have set ourselves a target of being in the playoffs on Christmas Day. We've made massive progress and we've got the players and set-up to deliver," he concluded.
