Christie: We deserved FA Cup win

Kettering Town hitman Iyseden Christie is basking in their Poppies FA Cup success and says that his team got what they deserved.

Christie, who was dropped for his side's first-round replay with Lincoln City, silenced his critics and his manager when he came off the bench to score a last gasp winner.

"It's always good to score the winner but we deserved to go through because, over the two games, we were the better side," the goalscorer told the Evening Telegraph.

"Once they had gone in front, we just kicked on and we scored a great goal and in the end we got what we deserved.

"You are always ecstatic when you score a late goal and it's not the first time I have done that but I am just pleased that we have got the result. It's great to be part of it."

The striker believes that it would be naive of second-round opponents Notts County to under-estimate them when they converge on Meadow Lane.

"I think Notts County will be worried and I think we have every chance of going there and getting a result," he added.

"But we have got the game on Sunday to think about now and I

certainly won't be counting my chickens because I don't know if I will be playing yet."

Christie concluded by complementing the Poppies faithful for their unwavering support.

"Our fans were excellent and they have been great to me since I have been here.

"It may not be the longest journey but they still have to pay to get here, pay to get and watch us and it is a real pleasure to play for them to be honest."
