Darren Patterson
Darren Patterson has been relieved of his managerial duties at Blue Square Premier outfit Oxford United.
Patterson met with U's chairman Kelvin Thomas over the weekend and it was decided that the best route for the club to follow would be for a new manager to come in.
Thomas said on the club's official website: "Darren is a very honest, hard working young manager who has given everything he had to the role.
"However, we feel that a change of manager and a change of direction is needed at this time.
"We thank Darren for his efforts and wish him well for the future."
Former Oxford boss and now director, Jim Smith, will assume the role as caretaker manager until a suitable replacement is found by the U's board.
Coach Mickey Lewis will assist Smith on all first-team affairs.
