Mansfield Town defender Maxime Chanot will return to Sheffield United when his loan spell at the Stags finishes on Wednesday.
Stags boss Billy McEwan has released the 18-year-old after he was sent off for a second time in seven games last weekend.
The French central defender was sent off for a headbutt in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Weymouth which has resulted in a four-game suspension.
Stags boss Billy McEwan told the club's official website: "Max's loan spell is up and we would like to thank him for his efforts during his time with us and also be thankful to Shefield United for letting him come to us.
"I have had a good chat with Max and he will return to Sheffield United much wiser. His stay here has been a big learning process. He has gone round to thank all the players and staff individually."
