Burr setting high standards

New Kidderminster Boss Steve Burr left Oxford United on Saturday relatively happy to pick up a point at the league leaders, but quite clear that his Harriers team must improve, especially if they are to realise the club's dream of a return to the Football League.

"Obviously you want three points but if you can't then the next best thing is to get the one," Burr told the Harrier's official website.

"I just felt a little disappointed today that the final ball and that final pass into the danger area wasn't quite what I would expect," he added.

Both sides would have left the Kassam Stadium disappointed at their failure to convert goal scoring opportunities.

While Burr might have been wanting more from his side going forward, he was satisfied with Kidderminster's defensive effort.

He said: "Fair play - I thought the lads at the back defended very well today and they all worked really hard. I can't ask for any more than that. Overall I'm pleased - It's a tough place to come and get a result."

Burr has been in charge at Aggborough for less than a month and is happy with the way the players have responded to his coaching style so far.

He said: "We're still in there and we've got a lot of games to play - the players are still getting used to my way of wanting to play and at the minute with what we're doing, it's working reasonably well."

The coach was able to hand new signing Marc Goodfellow his debut and also brought Dean Coleman back into the starting line-up, in place of Jasbir Singh in goal.

Of the change he added: "Jas has done very well for us in the last two games but I just felt coming here that Dean has that little bit more experience at this level. I have to admit that his handling was excellent today."
