Lambs boss wary of tough month

Tamworth manager Marcus Law expects the coming month of February to define his side's Blue Square Bet Premier season.

With just one point from a possible 21 the last few weeks, the 15th-placed Lambs face a daunting trip to Cambridge United on Saturday.

The injury-plagued outfit then face table-topping Fleetwood Town, followed by a clash with play-off chasing Kidderminster.

"These next few games are massive for us," Law told the Tamworth Herald

"We don't play anyone outside the top ten until sometime in March.

"In that time we could put ourselves in among the teams challenging for a top ten spot or we could find ourselves fighting a relegation battle. There's so much to play for.

"There are no easy games coming up and I know I have said it before but it really is time for us to stand up and show what we can do."

The Lambs tactician cringed at on-loan Luke Hubbins's hamstring injury suffered in Tuesday's 3-0 defeat at Ebbsfleet United, which added to his already lengthy casualty list.

Hubbins joins Callum Wilson, Kieron St Aimie, Sam Habergham, Scott Barrow and Patrick Kanyuka on the recovery table at the Lamb Ground.

Law continued: "We have got a couple of players coming for me to have a look at in training this week ahead of Cambridge but we are dealing within constraints here.

"We can't go out and get players like a Luton or a Fleetwood can, we have to deal within our means.

"I don't like to blame luck, but we have not had much of it recently with the players we are missing.

"First Coventry do us a favour and let us have a player like Callum for next to nothing. He comes in and shows what he can do and looks like he will be a big player for us, and then he gets injured and is out for a while.

"Then I call in some favours at Birmingham City to get Luke in to replace him and, within 55 minutes, he pulls a hamstring and is out for a month.

"That is what we are dealing with at the moment and, along with the results we have been getting, this is the most challenging spell I have had as a manager so far."
