Burr bemoans 'Below-par' Harriers

Steve Burr conceded too many of his players were below par on Saturday as Kidderminster Harriers fell to a 1-0 defeat at Macclesfield Town.

Waide Fairhurst (56) scored the only goal of the game at Moss Rose as the Silkmen came away with all three points despite being reduced to 10 men with 20 minutes remaining.

Burr admitted the winner came about due to a momentary lapse in concentration, and has urged his troops to remain switched on if they hope to finish the season amongst the play-off places.

"We didn't hit the heights we've come to expect," he told the club's official website. "There were too many below par today and we just didn't seem to find that bit of spark and what it takes to beat teams.

"We're disappointed because we have been on a terrific run but I did tell the lads at half time that if we raised [our game] even by 2% , we'll go on and win it because there wasn't a great deal in the game.

"We've been switched on over the last few weeks and the goal was just a lapse of concentration and a quick-free kick and their lad finished it off well.

"We hit the bar twice but, all in all, I can't complain too much and Macclesfield probably just shaded it today but it shows you that we have got to be at it all the time to win games."
