Woking 1-2 Mansfield

Mansfield Town's impressive winning run continued on Wednesday night with a 2-1 success over Woking at the Kingfield Stadium.

The visitors struggled to get going in the match, but Louis Briscoe opened the scoring to give them a half-time lead, before Bradley Bubb equalised from the penalty spot after the interval. The Stags pushed on and eventually got the winner late on through a Luke Jones header.

It was a night where the referee was the main talking point, making two contentious decisions leading to goals.

The first was when he overruled an offside call from his assistant in the build-up to Briscoe's goal.

New signing Adam Chapman made a great long-throw into the box from the left, which bounced to Briscoe at the far side of the box and he lifted it into the far corner.

The linesman had initially thought Matt Green had got a touch in an offside position before the ball went in, but after long discussions between the match officials the goal was allowed to stand.

After the half-time break there was another debatable decision when Colin Daniel was adjudged to have fouled Brett Johnson in the area, much to manager Paul Cox's displeasure.

After Cox was calmed down by the officials, Bubb made no mistake in sticking the spot-kick in the back of the net.

It was hard to see the visitors come away with a win after the equaliser, but in the 77th minute, James Jennings went up to take the corner and floated in a wonderful cross onto the head of Jones, who powered home the header.

Their sixth win in a row moves Cox's side into third position in the Blue Square Bet Premier standings, level on points with second-placed Kidderminster Harriers with two games in hand and three behind leaders Wrexham with one game in hand.

Meanwhile, the Cards are now in 10th position, a 16 points behind Grimsby Town in the last play-off place.
