An official press release from Nuneaton Town has confirmed that youth players Lewis Edwards and George Washbourne have been cleared of racism charges.
Nuneaton Town Football Club have been advised today that charges made against George Washbourne and Lewis Edwards have been withdrawn and have been expunged from FA records. They have had the club suspensions lifted with immediate effect.
However, two other youth team players have now been charged with the same charges as the cleared players.
Because of the stress the revelation of the charges placed on the Washbourne and Edwards' families, the club will not be identifying the two players who have since been charged, and have asked the press to refrain from doing so too.
The two players charged have both been suspended by the club until the outcome of the investigation by the Birmingham County FA is known.
Conor Baker who is has since left the club but has applied his defence and is awaiting a personal hearing. The club has fully complied with all parties to resolve the matter at the earliest time.
