FA Cup Third Round
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Cambridge United
Prices correct at time of writing (4.30pm, Wednesday January 2, 2008).
Home 1/5 Draw 9/2 Away 10/1
Cambridge United are flying the flag for the Blue Square Premier in the third round of the FA Cup and have a tough tie against Championship outfit Wolves, who are struggling for goals at the moment. It's a double figure price for Cambridge, who I'm sure will still be reeling from their disappointing 1-0 defeat at Histon on New Year's Day.
The U's would probably be delighted with a draw, as there would be the financial benefit of a replay and a big chance of TV money. I certainly won't be lumping on Wolves at huge odds on because Cambridge are a hard side to beat and it's just a shame that this match isn't being played at the Abbey Stadium because you'd really give them a fighting chance. Cambridge have had good runs in the FA Cup in the past, in particular in 1990 when they reached the quarter-finals, but 18 years on it's hard to see United winning and their priority is to get out of the Blue Square Premier.
If you're going to back Wolves, the value could be the correct scores of 1-0 and 2-0 (both 5/1).
Verdict: Home win
