Altrincham face Northwich Victoria at Moss Lane

Robins tipped to get three points

Thursday January 1, 2009

Altrincham v Northwich Victoria (15.00, Live on Setanta 1)

Prices correct at time of writing (5pm, Tuesday December 30, 2008).

Home 4/6 Draw 5/2 Away 4/1

Well who would have believed it? Altrincham have won two away games on the bounce, 1-0 at Northwich on Boxing Day and 2-1 at York on Sunday, which hasn't happened for a long time and they are really looking good for a mid-table finish.

The Robins really have over achieved under Graham Heathcote this season. The big disappointment was their FA Cup defeat on penalties to Luton, but also their poor run afterwards, which saw Altrincham knocked out of the FA Trophy to Southport. Those that follow non-league football in the North West will know this is a traditional derby and there should be a four-figure crowd and a decent atmosphere. I expect Altrincham to win - they beat Northwich 1-0 on Boxing Day with the luxury of Colin Little missing another penalty for Altrincham. The Robins' win at York has given Altrincham a boost and I think they'll beat the Vics 2-0. Northwich, like Lewes, now look set to be relegated this season.

Verdict: Home win

Best Bet:

Half-Time / Full-Time Draw / Altrincham 7/2
