Roy McFarland's Burton take on Rushden & Diamonds
Thursday February 5, 2009
Burton Albion v Rushden & Diamonds (19.45, Live on Setanta 1)
Prices correct at time of writing (1.30pm, Wednesday February 4, 2009).
Home 4/7 Draw 5/2 Away 5/1
Burton are 16 points clear at the top of the table while second-placed Histon have three games in hand but are stumbling a bit. Rushden have flattered to deceive so far this season.
The Brewers lost 4-0 to Stevenage in the FA Trophy last weekend and I wasn't at all surprised by that result because what Burton want is league football next season. You don't know what you are going to get with Rushden and after 30 games this season they've had 10 wins, 10 draws and 10 defeats and that sums up their campaign. Burton on the other hand have won 21 of their 30 games this season, with five draws and four defeats. This year is Burton's chance to get league football at the Pirelli next season, they're hot favourites to do so and it's a home win for me.
Verdict: Home win
Best Bet: Half-time / Full-time Draw / Burton Albion 7/2
