Oxford set to clip Gulls' wings

Saturday February 28, 2009

Oxford United v Torquay United (17.45, Live on Setanta 1)

Prices correct at time of writing (4pm Wednesday February 25, 2009).

Home 11/10 Draw 9/4 Away 9/4

Torquay dropped a couple of points on Tuesday night when they were held 3-3 at home to Forest Green Rovers and had to come from 3-1 down to draw, while Oxford beat Mansfield 1-0 last weekend. Amazingly Oxford could actually draw level with Torquay on 53 points if they win and you wouldn't have believed that earlier in the season. The Gulls needed an Iyseden Christie 80th minute equaliser against Forest Green to seal a point in a thriller down at Plainmoor but I think Oxford are going to win this one and I'm looking to them to make a late play-off charge, which would be a remarkable story.

Oxford's five-point deduction has proved very costly but I'm going for Chris Wilder's side here. I think this will be one of the most exciting matches on Setanta so far this season.

Verdict: Home win
