Boro tipped to reach Wembley

Saturday March 21, 2009

Ebbsfleet United v Stevenage Borough

Prices correct at time of writing (2pm, Wednesday March 18, 2009).

Home 8/5 Draw 23/10 Away 11/8

FA Trophy holders Ebbsfleet are 3-2 down to Stevenage but have home advantage at the weekend. I would expect Boro to come through this match but they've got to be careful that if they do get to Wembley then they don't let it get in the way of their bid to win promotion, like Torquay did last season. Nevertheless, a trip to Wembley would be a confidence booster so I'm going to take Stevenage to reach the final.

Verdict: Away win

York City v AFC Telford United

Home 4/6 Draw 5/2 Away 7/2

York lead 2-0 after the first leg with the return at home to AFC Telford United. The Minstermen have to be careful as they are on 38 points along with Ebbsfleet. York and the Fleet could both reach the final and get pulled into a relegation fight as fourth-from-bottom Barrow are on 36 points. It's nervous times as York won't want to throw away their place in the Blue Square Premier but I think they should be alright. The financial rewards for City would be great if they reach Wembley. The Minstermen earned another draw in midweek when they drew 1-1 at Forest Green in the Blue Square Premier with Onome Sodje netting the equaliser for York. I think the Minstermen will get to Wembley.

Verdict: Home win
