Boro and Gulls tipped to reach final

Monday May 4, 2009

Cambridge United v Stevenage Borough (Kick-off 12.00pm, Live on Setanta 1)

Prices correct at time of writing (4.30pm, Saturday May 2, 2009).

Home 10/11 Draw 12/5 Away 11/4

Cambridge United have it all to do as they take on a Stevenage Borough side who beat them 3-1 in the first leg on Thursday. Away goals don't count in the Blue Square Premier play-offs so a 2-0 win for Cambridge would still take the tie to extra time.

Boro did a tremendous job in the first leg because they had a player sent off yet they scored three times. I saw Cambridge draw 0-0 at home to Altrincham only a week ago and I think they will struggle to score twice against Stevenage. With Cambridge pressing for a route back into the tie, I think Stevenage can nick one on the counter attack and give their fans two trips to Wembley, as they are also playing York City in the FA Trophy final.

Verdict: Away win

Best Bet: Half-time / Full-time Draw / Stevenage 15/2

Histon v Torquay United (Kick-off 5.30pm, Live on Setanta 1)

Prices correct at time of writing (4.30pm, Saturday May 2, 2009).

Home 13/10 Draw 12/5 Away 7/4

Torquay beat Histon 2-0 on Friday night and the Gulls have a bit of an Indian sign over Histon, who are yet to pick up a victory against the Devon outfit this season. The Gulls drew 1-1 at Histon on the opening day so I don't fancy the Stutes to beat Torquay in this match.

I don't think Torquay are going to lose this game and will go through to the play-off final and have another trip to Wembley after their appearance in the FA Trophy final last season. This time they won't slip up in the play-off semi-finals like they did to Exeter and it's Torquay for me to get the chance to bounce back into the Football League after a two-year absence.

Verdict: Away win

Best Bet: Half-time / Full-time Draw / Torquay 11/2
