Cambridge Utd v Torquay

Play-off candidates Cambridge United will hope to pull one over their fellow Blue Square Premier promotion rivals at the Abbey Stadium.

If the hosts gain the vital three points against second-placed Torquay, it will cement their progress through to the play-offs - while the Gulls have already confirmed their spot.

The U's will again be without Lee McEvilly (ankle), while Paul Carden misses out through suspension.

Courtney Pitt (groin) is a doubt, but manager Jimmy Quinn is hoping he will feature.

He told Cambridge Evening News: "It just tightened up a bit, so we got him off before he did any more damage and put some ice on it. If we've got to stick six injections in him to make sure he's okay, we'll do it."

Meanwhile, Torquay boss Paul Buckle is excepted to rest many of his key players ahead of the top-of-the-table encounter.

He told This Is South Devon: It's vital that we get team selection right going into the play-offs.

"I am quite confident that, unless we pick up unnecessary injuries, we can do that.

"This is my first job in management, and I'm going to live and die by the decisions I make. But it's enjoyable trying to get it right.

"Every game that Torquay United has played this season has been a big game in some way or other.

"But we haven't bottled it in big matches.

"We've also stepped up and played very well in cup games, and that's what the play-offs are.

"The players have a burning desire to be successful, and we have been very consistent in every competition."

Buckle will welcome back Tony Bedeau (hamstring) and Danny Stevens (knee) while Steve Adams (thigh) and Steve Woods (broken toe) are sidelined.
