Burton v Cambridge

Burton Albion welcome Jimmy Quinn's Cambridge United to Pirelli Stadium on Friday evening for the first leg of the Blue Square Premier play-off semi-final.

Brewers boss Nigel Clough has doubts over the fitness of experienced player Andy Corbett, who twisted his ankle in the 4-4 draw with Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday.

Corbett has expanded on his game since joining the Brewers as a striker in 2003 and has become an integral part of Burton's backline.

"He'll (Corbett) need to come through without any problems for him to be considered for Friday, but I'm quite confident that he'll put himself back in the reckoning," Clough told Mail Sport.

"Apart from his effort and energy, we always miss Andy because of the options he gives us.

"We know that he will do a reliable job for us if we decide to shuffle things round."

Clough will hand a late test to striker Matty Williams after the on-loan Tamworth man suffered a concussion on Saturday.

He added: "Matty is okay generally, but whether he's in the squad for Friday is a decision we'll leave to the medical people.

"I'm sure he'll want to be involved but we have to be sure that they are happy because you have to be careful with head injuries."

Cambridge manager Jimmy Quinn has called on his side to stay focused ahead of Friday evening's first leg tie.

"Discipline really comes into play and we can't afford to get somebody sent off or players getting booked for dissent for arguing with the referee," Quinn told Cambridge News.

"Everything has to be about the team and the only thing going through the players' minds should be 'what can I do to help the side and influence the team?' That certainly doesn't involve shouting at referees or getting involved in anything with the opposition because once you're booked, you can't make another tackle and Burton will know that, so keeping the discipline is very important.

"Hopefully, the lads will rise to the occasion and it will come down to whoever holds their nerve and copes with the pressure.

"Burton are obviously at home in the first leg, so there's a bit more pressure on them because they know they'll need to get a result to take into the second leg.

"I've been involved in play-offs and games like this many times over the years and because of the build-up to the match, a few anxieties may creep in.

"It's my job to try to relax them and make them stay focused on the 90 minutes' work ahead of them."

Michael Morrison, Dan Gleeson, Danny Potter, Wayne Hatswell and Rob Wolleaston were recently called up to the England C squad and will almost certainly be starting on Friday.
