Barrow v Torquay

Barrow AFC prepare for the visit of play-off contenders Torquay United to Holker Street on Tuesday with one eye on the dreaded relegation places.

The Bluebirds earned themselves a three-point cushion on the drop zone with a 3-3 draw against Crawley Town on Saturday afternoon, while Torquay played to a goalless draw against Stevenage Borough at Broadhall Way.

The Gulls are on equal points with fifth-placed Kidderminster with 79 points and an identical goal difference and a win in midweek could see them book their place in the play-offs.

Barrow joint-managers David Bayliss and Darren Sheridan are expected to make changes to their attacking options on Tuesday.

Lee McEvilly and Brendan McGill will be dropping down to the bench with Lee Hunt and Nick Rogan set to get the nod.

The strike duo played a pivotal role in Barrow's comeback on Saturday and as such, will be rewarded with starting berths.

Torquay United will have to put thoughts of their penultimate game against league leaders Burton Albion to the back of their minds on Tuesday.

Both games will be crucial in deciding Torquay's Blue Square Premier fate, but a defeat to the Bluebirds in midweek would see their play-off aspirations take a serious denting.

Defender Lee Mansell will miss out but his absence is cushioned by the return of Lee Hodges to the starting line-up.

Manager Paul Buckle is expected to shift Chris Robertson to right-back to allow Hodges to partner Chris Todd in the heart of defence.

Buckle told the Herald Express: "It's no disrespect to any other team, but we have performed very well against the big sides and we know we have slipped up against other teams.

"All of the players really put a shift in at Stevenage.

"We had six hours on the motorway up there on Friday and we have another marathon trip ahead of us on Monday.

"But we have to be professional and give it every last ounce.

"If we beat Barrow, we put ourselves in a very strong position."
