Racecourse Ground

Wrexham v Weymouth

Dean Saunders' Wrexham will be looking to end their season on high when relegated Weymouth make the trip to the Racecourse Ground on Sunday afternoon.

The Dragons have endured a torrid time in the Blue Square Premier, picking up just two wins in their last 17 league games.

Saunders will hand late fitness tests to midfielder Andrew Crofts (thigh) and striker Marc Williams (foot).

Young goalkeeper Chris Maxwell will keep his starting place between the sticks after first-choice stopper Gunnar Neilsen underwent an operation on his injured thumb.

Striker Matt Jansen has also gone under the knife to repair a knee problem, while defender Mansour Assoumani serves the final game of a three-match suspension.

Weymouth boss Bobby Gould has doubts over the availability of Cameron Mawer, who is playing through the pain barrier while suffering from Osgood-Schlatter's disease.

The full-back almost lasted the full ninety minutes in Friday's defeat to York City and Gould could be tempted to start with him again.

Gould told the Dorset Echo: "The players will now need to recover both mentally and physically before getting on the coach on Sunday and being ready to go and win a game because believe you me we will be going to Wrexham full blooded.

"We will not be going up there just to lie down not against Dean Saunders anyway.

"It is personal with him but we will be counting the knees and knuckles ahead of the game.

"We have lost two or three players through different situations and there might well be some more youngsters with us on Sunday."
