Saturday's Blue Square South Wrap

League leaders Chelmsford City solidified their position at the top of the pile, while Eastleigh moved up to third position after recording a home win against Havant and Waterlooville.

AFC Wimbledon 1-1 Hampton & Richmond

AFC Wimbledon slipped down to sixth place in the Blue Square South standings on Saturday after being held to a draw by Hampton & Richmond Borough at Kingsmeadow.

The first 45 minutes ended goalless with neither of the sides able to find a cutting edge in front of goal.

The hosts broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute thanks to midfielder Sam Hatton but they failed to build on their advantage.

The Beavers responded with a timely equaliser, with defender Dean Wells firing in a 69th minute effort to help his side pick up a point on the road.

Bath City 1-0 Maidenhead Utd

Bath City gave their supporters something to cheer about at Twerton Park with a morale-boosting win over high-flying Maidenhead United.

The visiting team will certainly be disappointed with the result after recording a 5-1 FA Trophy victory over East Thurrock United in midweek.

This latest result has seen them suffer a fourth consecutive league defeat, and manager Johnson 'Drax' Hippolyte will be livid after informing his players in midweek, that they would be playing for their Magpies careers.

The solitary goal came after just eight minutes with defender Chris Holland bagging the crucial goal.

Braintree Town 1-0 St Albans

Braintree caretaker manager Brad Quinton made the perfect start in charge with a narrow win over St Albans City at Cressing Road Stadium.

Quinton took over the reins from departed manager Lee Patterson this week and got the right kind of response from the players on Saturday afternoon.

The Iron managed to keep it tight at the back in the first half and claimed the lead in the 75th minute courtesy of forward Sean Marks.

Braintree now find themselves in 13th place with 22 points from 17 games, while the Saints drop down to ninth position with 30 points from 18 games.

Bromley 3-3 Thurrock

Bromley and Thurrock provided plenty of entertainment for their respective supporters at The Courage Stadium on Saturday.

The hosts opened the scoring after 24 minutes through midfielder Ryan Hall before fellow midfielder Moses Swaibu put the ball in his own net in the 31st minute to level the scores.

Striker Warren McBean restored the Ravens' lead six minutes later, only for Thurrock forward Leon McKenzie to restore parity one minute after the break.

McKenzie proved to be a constant thorn in the side for Bromley as he popped up again in the 66th minute to net his second, and give his side the lead for the first time in the match.

However, the result was not done and dusted as McBean spared his side the blushes with a 90th minute finish.

Dorchester 1-1 Welling

Welling United moved up to eighth place in the Blue Square South standings on Saturday despite playing to a draw with Dorchester Town.

The Wings drew first blood when defender Jack Parkinson justified his recent recall from a loan spell at Margate, by finding the back of the net in the 31st minute.

They held on to their slender advantage heading into the break but were unable to stop the Magpies from rallying in the second period.

Dorchester clawed their way back on even pegging thanks to striker Jamie Mudge's 58th minute finish but they were unable to push on and fashion a winning goal at the Avenue Stadium.

Eastleigh 2-0 Havant and Waterlooville

Eastleigh produced an assured performance at Silverlake Stadium to cruise to a comfortable win over Shaun Gale's Havant and Waterlooville.

Midfielder Anthony Riviere put the hosts ahead after 38 minutes and on-loan winger Matt Bodkin made sure of the result with his 83rd minute effort.

The Wings are now third in the Blue Square South standings with 33 points from 18 fixtures.

Fisher Athletic 0-1 Bognor Regis Town

Rock-bottom Bognor Regis Town recorded a morale-boosting win over fellow strugglers Fisher Athletic at Champion Hill Stadium.

Michael McEnery scored the solitary goal after 66 minutes to help his side pick up a rare and valuable three points.

The Rocks remain at the foot of the table despite the win, while Fisher Athletic slip down into the dreaded drop zone with 14 points from 18 matches.

Hayes & Yeading 1-1 Team Bath

Hayes & Yeading lost ground on leaders Chelmsford City after being held to a draw by Team Bath at Church Road.

All credit to the Scholars though, as they rallied back after conceding an early goal to earn a share of the spoils.

Forward Josh Scott got the hosts off to a flying start with a sixth minute goal and Shaun Benison levelled the scores with a 49th minute goal.

Newport County 0-1 Bishop's Stortford

Bishop's Stortford lifted themselves out of the relegation zone with a narrow win against Newport County at Spytty Park.

Midfielder Jason Mason scored the winning goal in the 69th minute to help his side to a much-needed victory.

Weston-S-Mare 0-3 Basingstoke

Strugglers Basingstoke Town stunned Weston-Super-Mare at Woodspring Stadium on Saturday by cruising to a comfortable victory.

Phil Ruggles was in sublime form in the first half as he opened the scoring with a 15th minute finish and then went on to double his and Basingstoke's tally in the 40th minute.

The Seagulls seemed unable to mount any form of a comeback and went further behind when midfielder Jerome Maledon found the back of the net in the 61st minute.

'Stoke still find themselves in the drop zone but will take heart from the fact that there is just a four-point gap separating them from Havant & Waterlooville, who are currently in 16th place.

Worcester 0-1 Chelmsford

Chelmsford bounced back to winning ways in the Blue Square South this weekend with a narrow win against Worcester City at St George's Lane.

The Clarets beat Blue Square Premier side Grays Athletic 4-2 in the Setanta Shield in midweek and built on that morale-boosting win with another solid performance on Saturday afternoon.

Midfielder Ollie Berquez broke the deadlock after 35 minutes but the game failed to produce any more goals as both sides resolute in defence.
