Tuesday's Blue Square South Wrap

AFC Wimbledon claimed pole position in the Blue Square South standings on Tuesday evening while Welling, Maidenhead and Hayes & Yeading all closed in on the play-off places.

Basingstoke 2-0 Bromley

Relegation-threatened Basingstoke Town gave their supporters something to cheer about on Tuesday night as they recorded a comfortable win against mid-table Bromley at The Camrose.

The home side broke the deadlock just two minutes after the half-time break thanks to defender Joe Dolan and Portuguese midfielder Sido Jombarti doubled their advantage with an 89th minute effort.

The Dragons remain in 20th position with 21 points from 24 games, while Bromley hold on to 10th place with 36 points from 27 fixtures.

Bishop's Stortford 0-1 AFC Wimbledon

AFC Wimbledon leapfrogged Chelmsford city into first place in the league standings on Tuesday after edging out Bishop's Stortford at Woodside Park.

Striker Danny Kedwell scored the solitary goal in the 57th minute to help his side move above Chelmsford on goal difference.

The Wombles are currently the highest-scoring team in the league with a goal difference of 36.

Bognor Regis Town 1-1 Thurrock

Bognor Regis Town were unable to make their home advantage count as they were held to a stalemate by fellow strugglers Thurrock at Nyewood Lane.

The first-half ended goalless with neither of the two sides able to fashion very many chances in front of goal and looked to be heading for a goalless draw in the second period.

However, Thurrock opened the scoring through forward David Bryant in the 77th minute before Bognor's Jahson Downes popped up in the 90th minute to spare his side the blushes.

Eastleigh 2-0 Bath City

Eastleigh maintained their play-off aspirations with a comfortable victory against Bath City at Silverlake Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Spitfires opened their account in the 63rd minute thanks to Scottish defender Tom Jordan and Aaron Martin made it a quick-fire double when he found the back of the net just five minutes later.

After this latest result Eastleigh remain in fourth place with 47 points, while Bath City slip down to ninth with 39 points collected from 24 fixtures.

Hayes & Yeading 2-1 Dorchester

Hayes & Yeading moved up to seventh position in the Blue Square South standings after seeing off the challenge of Dorchester town at Church Road.

The visitors broke the deadlock in the 13th minute through striker Ryan Moss, but their lead was short-lived as the hosts drew level just two minutes later thanks to Omari Coleman.

The encounter continued at a frantic pace and buoyed by their equaliser just minutes earlier, Hayes & Yeading claimed the lead when Norwegian Ram Marwa found the back of the net in the 18th minute.

Maidenhead Utd 1-0 Havant and Waterlooville

Maidenhead United moved up to sixth place in the standings on Tuesday night after edging out Havant and Waterlooville at York Road.

Turkish striker Mustafa Tiryaki netted the solitary goal in the 57th minute to help his side collect a valuable three points.

After this result, Shaun Gale and his Hawks find themselves hovering dangerously close to the dreaded drop zone with 27 points from 25 games.

St Albans 2-3 Welling

A Charlie Sheringham brace helped Welling United to victory over St Albans City in a five-goal thriller at Clarence Park on Tuesday.

The Wings got off a flying start with Sanchez Ming opening for the visitors after nine minutes and Sheringham keeping a cool head to calmly slot home a 34th minute penalty.

The Saints rallied well after the break and pulled one back through Paul Hakim before midfielder Sam Hurrell restored parity with a 73rd minute goal.

However, it was Sheringham who had the last laugh, grabbing the winning goal with just three minutes left on the clock.

Team Bath 0-2 Worcester

Team Bath lost ground on the play-off places after being comfortably beaten by mid-table Worcester City at Twerton Park.

Striker Marco Addagio opened the scoring in the 11th minute and midfielder Rob Davies put the result beyond the reach of the home side with a goal on the hour-mark.
