Saturday's Blue Square South Wrap

A weekend of upsets saw Basingstoke beat Bath City 1-0 at the Camrose, whilst Bishops Stortford overcame high-flying Chelmsford at Woodside Park.

Basingstoke 1-0 Bath City

Basingstoke recorded somewhat of an upset at the Camrose, defeating Bath City 1-0.

Adie Britton will be dissapointed that his side failed to take anything from the game against a struggling side.

The first half passed without incident, both sides looking tentative on the ball.

Then in the 56th minute, forward Phil Ruggles found the back of the net, putting the Dragons in front. City failed to respond and the game ended in the home sides favour.

The win sees Basingstoke stay at 18th on the log whilst Bath City drop to 8th.

Bishop's Stortford 2-1 Chelmsford

Another upset saw Bishop's Stortford beat Chelmsford 2-1 at Woodside Park.

Mark Simpson will be pleased with his men after a determined performance.

The Clarets would have been eager to take all three points as they seek to consolidate their play-off position. But it was not to be.

The Bishops struck early through Duane Jackman and then put the pressure squarely on the Clarets by scoring a second in the 22nd minute, this time through Peter Dean.

Chelmsford came out firing in the second half, with midfielder Jamie Hand cancelling out a goal.

But the Bishops would hold on to record an important win and jump to 14th on the log.

Chelmsford drops to fourth.

Bognor Regis Town 0-5 St Albans

St Albans produced an emphatic attacking display against Bognor regis Town at Nyewood Park, thrashing the Rocks 5-0.

It didnt take long for the Friars to strike, with James Fisher finding the back of the net in the 12 minute.

The Paul Hakim scored the first of his three goals, slotting home in the 37th minute.

There would be no respite for Rocks' fans in the seconds half. Darin Kilpatrick could only look on in disgust as his side conceded a penalty in the 48th minute and Jonathan Hunt made no mistake from the spot.

Hakim scored again in the 65th minute and then completed his hat-trick in the 69th.

The result sees Town stay at 21st on the log whilst the Saints go up to 11th.

Eastleigh 0-0 Maidenhead

Eastleigh and Maidenhead played out a goalless draw at Silverlake Stadium.

Both sides are strong contenders for the play-offs and neither one was willing to concede a goal on the day.

Johnson Hippolyte, the Maggpies Boss, will be pleased to take an away point from the Spitfires.

Maidenhead remain at 5th on the table whilst Eastleigh move above Chelmsford to third.

Fisher Athletic 0-2 Weston-S-Mare

Weston-S-Mare took all three points away against a hapless Fisher Athletic.

The Martyrs' defense let them down early on in the game, as Emmanuel William stole into space and scored in the 19th minute.

On the stroke of half time Marc Mcgregor doubled the visitors advantage.

The second half was a lackluster affair, as the Seagulls took their foot off the gas and the Fish struggled on without reward.

The victory sees the Seagulls move up to 16th place on the table while bottomfeeding Athletic remain on the lowest rung.

Sami Muduroglo has some work to do if the Fish are to resuscitate their season.

Havant and Waterlooville 0-0 AFC Wimbledon

Lowly Havant and Waterlooville managed to shut out top placed AFC Wimbledon at West Leigh Park, securing a draw and what may prove to be a vital point as they struggle to crawl out of the relegation zone.

The game saw the Hawks defense absorbing constant pressure as the Dons launched wave after wave of attack.

Shaun Gale will be pleased with the resolve his players showed in keeping out the on-form Wombles strike force.

A point each sees the Hawks stay at 19th whilst AFC Wimbledon remain in the top spot..

Hayes & Yeading 2-0 Newport County

Hayes & Yeading picked up 3 comfortable points at home as they took on and defeated Newport County 2-0.

An early strike from midfielder Ram Marwa saw United take an early lead.

The rest of the half produced little in the way of excitement as both teams probed the opposition defense without success.

United doubled their lead shortly after the restart, when Josh Scott fired home.

Newport were unable to respond and the game finished 2-0 United.

The loss sees the Exiles drop to 15th on the log whilst United remain in 6th spot.

Team Bath 4-1 Dorchester

Team Bath proved too strong for Dorchester at home, overcoming the Magpies in a game that produced five goals.

The game started slowly, with both sides seemingly content to wait for the chance to strike.

That chance came in the 36th minute for the Crescents and Josh Llewellyn made no mistake, firing home to give his side the lead.

The flood gates opened in the second half for Team Bath. Mike Perrot scored in the 56th minute, causing Dorchester heads to drop.

Llewellyn added his second goal in the 56th minute to kill the game as a contest and then completed his hat-trick in the 64th minute to rub salt into the wound.

Mitchell Nicholson scored a consolation goal for Town in the 79th minute but it would make no difference to the result.

Team Bath go up to 7th place on the log, whilst Dorchester slip to 17th.

Thurrock 1-1 Bromley

Lowly Thurrock managed to hold Bromley to a draw at Ship Lane.

Ryan Hall scored for the visitors in the 13th minute, and it looked like another bad day at the office for the Fleet.

But Coach Hakin Hayrettin managed to fire them up during the break and they looked a more determined side in the second half.

Their attitude paid off in the 67th minute when Che Stadhardt fired home to draw the score level.

Their would be no more goals as the defenders on both sides closed up shop.

Thurrock stay deep in the relegation quagmire in 20th place while a disappointing result for Mark Goldberg's men sees them stay in 10th spot.

Worcester 1-2 Hampton and Richmond

Worcester failed to collect any points at home as Hampton and Richmond overcame 2-1.

Fans at St. Georges Lane were given reason to believe when Marco Addagio fired home in the 40th minute.

But Alan Devonshire managed to fire up his men during the break and the Beavers came out looking ready to fight in the second half.

The pressure payed off soon enough for Hampton as they equalized through Kieran Knight in the 50th minute.

Hampton finished the job in the dying minutes of the game,Ian Hodges firing in to seal the points.

The loss sees Worcester drop to 12th while the Beavers stay at second as they continue in their attempt to catch AFC Wimbledon at the top.
