Tuesday's Blue Square South Wrap

Newport County caused one of the biggest upsets of the Blue Square South season when they beat the high-flying Hampton & Richmond 1-0 at Beveree Stadium.

A first-half goal by Paul Cochlin was enough to give Dean Holdsworth's side the three points and continue their fine run of form.

Maidenhead United will be rueing missed chances as they played out a 1-1 draw with lowly Thurrock at York Road.

The Magpies remain in the play-off places but they will know that they missed out on a golden opportunity to put some distance between themselves and Hayes and Yeading, who trail them by just two points.

Although Thurrock remain in the relegation zone they will be delighted with the much-needed point.

Tuesday's results:

Hampton & Richmond 0-1 Newport County

Maidenhead Utd 1-1 Thurrock

"lm shocked that Newport are not higher than their currant position, they are very hard to play against, we only got 1 point out of them this season."

"Hampton beaten at home by Newport; Newport beaten by Eastleigh at Newport;

Hampton entertaining Eastleigh at home on Sat 7th March- the result should be interesting as Eastleigh are winning more away matches than at home recently!"
