Saturday's Blue Square South wrap

Eastleigh cut AFC Wimbledon's cushion at the summit to just three points after a thrilling 2-0 win at the Silverlake Stadium.

The encounter looked set to end in a stalemate as neither side produced successful goalmouth action in the first 45 minutes.

However, after the interval, both sides pushed forward with Tom Jordan firing the hosts in front in the 61st minute.

Spanish forward Jonny Dixon doubled their lead on the 77-minute mark to send the Spitfires' faithful into a frenzy.

The Dons looked to claw their way back into the game with midfielder Elliott Godfrey's 83rd-minute effort, but it was too little, too late for the visitors.

Eastleigh are now in third spot, with 70 points.

Meanwhile, Hampton & Richmond closed the gap on the league leaders after easing past Havant and Waterlooville 2-1 at the Beveree Stadium.

Kieran Knight opened the scoring for the hosts at the close of the first half, before Luke Nightingale evened matters in the second spell. Just when it seemed the sides would need to settle for a share of the spoils, Ian Hodges secured the win with five minutes to spare.

Team Bath retained their spot in the top ten after an impressive 2-0 win against play-off chasing Chelmsford. Matt Smith opened the scoring in the 37th minute - a lead which remained going into the interval.

Shortly after the break, Tom Piotrowski made the result certain, leaving the Clarets in fifth place - with Maidenhead United hot on their heels for that final play-off spot.

The Magpies are currently sixth after Richard Pacquette's brace severely dented Welling's own top-five ambitions.

The Dominica striker struck in the dying minutes of the first half, before adding his second on the 55-minute mark to leave the visitors flat-footed.

Johson Hippolyte's charges are just one point behind Chelmsford and will fancy their chances of entering the promotion fray.

At the opposite end of the table, Fisher suffered a 3-0 home rout at the hands of Bishops Stortford.

Lewis Smith - at Woodside Park on work experience from Fulham - single-handedly killed off Fisher with a deserved hat-trick.

His first goal of the night came in the 14th minute and he had to wait until the stroke of half time to notch up his second.

The hosts had no answer for his prowess and he took advantage of their defensive frailties by capping off the game and his treble in the 83rd minute.

The Fish are rock-bottom with 18 points and look on course to follow Lewes as one of this season's relegated teams in non-league football.
