Saturday's Blue Square South Wrap

AFC Wimbledon all but wrapped up the Blue Square South on Saturday as Thurrock kept their survival hopes alive.

The Dons drew 1-1 with title-chasers Hampton & Richmond at Beveree Stadium as Jon Main scored a vital equaliser in the 82nd minute to cancel out Francis Quarm's 52nd minute opener.

The result means that the two teams could end the season on the same points if the Beavers win their final game and Terry Brown's side lose theirs; but a far superior goal difference of plus 13 after this week's games, suggests the title is heading to Wimbledon.

Eastleigh in third could also share the same number of points at the end of the season as Ashley Carew's 18th minute strike secured a 1-0 win for them this Blue Square Saturday, but with a far inferior goal difference, they won't be harbouring any title ambitions.

Hayes & Yeading meanwhile, secured their play-off spot with a 5-0 thrashing of relegated Fisher Athletic with goals from Josh Scott, Steven Gregory, Steve Perkins and a brace from Toby Little.

At the bottom of the table, Thurrock secured a priceless 1-1 away draw against Newport County. The Fleet were so close to securing a 1-0 win as captain Lee Flynn netted with nine minutes remaining. But with just five minutes of the tie to play, Craig Reid grabbed an equaliser to force a share of the spoils.

This result coupled with Dorchester drawing 0-0 to Bognor Regis Town away from home, means that, with a game in hand and five points behind, Thurrock could still secure their league safety.

Basingstoke 0-1 Maidenhead Utd

Bath City 2-1 Chelmsford

Bishop's Stortford 1-0 Havant and W

Bognor Regis Town 0-0 Dorchester
