Saturday's Blue Square South Preview

AFC Wimbledon should, barring a complete collapse, seal the title on Saturday, while Thurrock have to win to have any hope of securing their Blue Square South status for another season.

The Dons play host to St Albans this weekend knowing that anything other than a heavy defeat will see them clinch the title and automatic promotion to the Blue Square Premier.

With the Dons holding a commanding lead at the top of the table with regards to their goal difference, prolific forward Jon Main already considers his side as champions and is looking forward to playing in a higher league next season.

Main, who can't wait to celebrate with the Kingsmeadow faithful, told Your Local Guardian: "Saturday will be fantastic.

"It is so great to be up before the final game, as the tension would have been terrible.

"But now we get to celebrate twice.

"Everyone can look forward to playing teams like Luton and Oxford, and it really is a dream to be playing in such a big league."

Chelmsford can secure a play-off place with a draw against Weston-Super-Mare, while Maidenhead United will be hoping that the Clarets lose and they claim a comfortable victory over Hampton & Richmond in order to realise their play-off dreams.

At the other end of the table, Thurrock have to win and hope that Dorchester lose in order to avoid relegation.

The Fleet play host to Bath City, while the Magpies entertain Bromley.

Both games are sure to be nervy encounters, as a draw for Dorchester will more than likely not be good enough should Thurrock win.

However, Magpies assistant-manager Ashley Vickers insists that his side are not thinking of relegation ahead of the vital encounter and will go into the match with a positive frame of mind.

He told the Dorset Echo: "It's a massive game for us but we're going into it with a positive attitude. We've got to win to be on the safe side and hopefully the lads' form of late will finally pay off.

"We've looked a lot more solid lately, we've been threatening the opposition goal a lot but are still struggling to get goals.

"We've got some suspensions and we are missing some influential players but I'm confident that those coming in will do a good job and get the result we need to keep us in the league."

Kevin Hill, Nick Crittenden and Mitchell Nicholson all miss the clash for the Magpies due to suspension.
