Saturday's Blue Square South Preview

Dean Holdsworth's Newport County will be looking to extend their 14-point lead at the top of the Blue Square South standings on Saturday afternoon.

Mid-table Basingstoke Town prepare for the visit of play-off hopefuls Staines Town as they look to record a second straight league victory.

The Dragons beat play-off hopefuls Chelmsford City 2-1 last weekend and manager Frank Gray will be keen for more of the same.

Ironically, Staines also played Chelmsford in their last game and edged out the Clarets 1-0.

13th-placed Bishop's Stortford entertain Welling at Woodside Park on Saturday with just one point separating the two sides in the league standings.

Braintree Town will be looking to keep their play-off aspirations alive when second-placed Woking make the trip to Cressing Road Stadium.

The Cardinals lead the chasing pack with a total of 45 points from 25 games, while the Iron sit in eighth place with 39 points from 22 games.

Mark Goldberg's Bromley prepare for the visit of league leaders Newport County as they look to keep their play-off dreams alive.

The Ravens are hovering just below the play-off places but have Braintree Town and Eastleigh breathing down their necks.

In contrast, the league leaders hold a comfortable 14-point cushion and still have a number of games in hand.

Ian Baird's Eastleigh prepare to take on 15th-placed Havant & Waterlooville at Silverlake Stadium as they hope to close the gap on the play-off places.

14th-placed St Albans City entertain Adie Britton's Bath City, who will be looking to keep their play-off aspirations alive.

The Saints have an 11-point cushion on the drop zone, while the Romans will be keen to bounce back to winning ways after a disappointing 2-2 draw against Bishop's Stortford last weekend.

Fifth-placed Thurrock will be looking to claim all the spoils when Johnson Hippolyte's Maidenhead United make the trip to Ship Lane.

The Fleet hold a two-point lead on the chasing play-off hopefuls with 43 points from 25 games, while the Magpies find themselves sitting in 16th place with 29 points from 24 fixtures.

Relegation-threatened Weston-super-Mare will be desperate to claim all three points when strugglers Dorchester Town visit Woodspring Stadium.

The Seagulls are second-from-bottom with a disappointing total of 16 points from 24 games, while Dorchester are hovering just above the dreaded drop zone with 24 points from 25 fixtures.

Rock-bottom Weymouth play host to fellow strugglers Lewes at the Wessex Stadium with both sides in desperate need of three points.
