Bath's Adie Britton

Saturday's Blue Square South Preview

The hotly-contested battle for play-off positions takes centre stage this weekend with Bath City playing host to Thurrock while Dover welcome Braintree Town.

The Iron can return to the play-off places if they can achieve a result at Dover in a crucial match for both sides. The managers will know what to expect as the teams met as recently as last month, Dover running out 2-1 winners.

"We both know our strengths and our weaknesses," Iron manager Robbie Garvey told The Wither and Braintree Times.

"There are lessons we can learn from the home game, because we conceded from a set piece.

"Dover have a fantastic manager, a good squad and a good side." he added.

Andy Hessenthaler's side presently occupy eighth place but are very much in the play-off mix sitting just two points behind Braintree.

Bath are unbeaten in seven games since they played Thurrock in the reverse outing on January 16. Adie Britton's side will be hoping to exact a measure of revenge at Twerton Park and in the process consolidate their position in the top five.

First plays last as Weymouth face the mountainous task of subduing league leaders Newport County. The result would seem a foregone conclusion but the Terras did manage to take points off Newport in a 1-1 draw back in September and Exiles coach Dean Holdsworth is taking nothing for granted.

"We have moved on from then, but it's still a warning sign that you can never take anything for granted and we will be on full alert tomorrow," he told Wales Online.

It is a six-point relegation battle at St George Lane where Worcester face Hampton and Richmond. The winner will ease fears of the drop and could open some day light on third from bottom Lewes.

Bromley and Dorchester will welcome a rest as they sit out this weekend.
