Tuesday's North and South Preview

Southport will be aiming to reduce Fleetwood's lead at the summit of the Blue Square North table while Blue Square South play-off hopefuls Dover Athletic will be targeting three points against Worcester City.

Blue Square North:

High-flying Alfreton Town will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to 12 games when fellow play-off hopefuls Droylsden make the trip to the Impact Arena.

The Reds are currently in third position with 54 points from 34 games, while fifth placed Droylsden boast a total of 46 points from 29 matches.

Blyth Spartans boss Mick Tait will be missing a number of key players for the visit of 12th placed Workington to Croft Park.

Tait told The Journal: "It is unbelievable how things turn round from one week to the next.

"After beating Telford last Saturday, all the talk was about who we are going to beat next. Then you lose four or five players and the whole picture changes.

"Suddenly it is two defeats and 'how are we going to turn it round?'. I am not sure because we have a game tomorrow and I cannot see any of the lads who were missing being back.

"We just have to pull together, regroup and get on with it. There is nothing else we can do.

"The lads who came in will probably get another chance to stake their claim to a place on Tuesday.

"We just have to get on with it and be strong."

Workington currently occupy 12th place in the Blue Square North standings with 40 points from 27 games after last week's 3-1 victory over the Spartans and manager Nicky Law will be keen for more of the same.

Relegation-threatened Gainsborough Trinity play host to fellow strugglers Hyde United at the Northolme.

Northwich Victoria prepare for the visit of fellow play-off hopefuls Corby Town to the Victoria Stadium after both sides recorded wins at the weekend.

The Vics edged out Blyth Spartans at Croft Park thanks to Jamie Vermigilo's 51st minute effort, while the Steelmen cruised to a 4-1 victory over Vauxhall Motors at Rockingham Triangle.

Blue Square South:

Dover Athletic will be aiming to bounce back to winning ways when relegation-threatened Worcester City visit Perry's Crabble Stadium.

The Whites were held to a goalless draw by play-off rivals Braintree Town on Saturday and currently find themselves sitting in eighth place with 50 points from 31 games.

Worcester are hovering just above the relegation zone with a total of 29 points from 33 fixtures.

Hampton & Richmond will be looking to further distance themselves from the dreaded drop zone when fellow strugglers Dorchester Town make the trip to Beveree Stadium.

The Beavers beat Worcester on Saturday thanks to Barrie Matthews' 84th minute penalty, while the Magpies were not involved in the Blue Square South action at the weekend.

Play-off hopefuls Thurrock and Braintree Town square off at Ship Lane with just two points separating them in the league standings.
