Cambridge United booked their place in the promotion play-offs with a comfortable win against fellow high flyers Torquay United on Tuesday night.
The Gulls started brightly as they looked for an early breakthrough but lacked a cutting edge as a number of long-range efforts missed the target.
The hosts broke the deadlock in the 41st minute when Mark Beesley latched onto a Daniel Gleeson assist pass on the right and placed his 12-yard effort across goal and into the bottom-left corner.
U's fans were sent into fervent celebrations just four minutes later as Beesley collected another Gleeson pass and fired into the bottom-left of goal.
Torquay's place in the play-offs was already secured before Tuesday's encounter and Jimmy Quinn's side are now also secure in the knowledge that they will be there too.
Cambridge bookings: Reed 19, Albrighton 64.
Torquay bookings: None.
