Torquay 1-4 Exeter (agg 3-5)

Exeter City staged a memorable comeback to comfortably beat Torquay United at Plainmoor in the second leg of the play-off semi-final.

The Gulls edged the first leg 2-1 and looked to be heading for the play-off final in the 59th minute when Kevin Hill's volleyed effort from 12 yards out broke the deadlock.

The opener seemed to shock the visitors back to reality and they drew level ten minutes later courtesy of Ryan Harley's 20-yard finish.

The Grecians continued to push for their second and finally got the breakthrough they were looking for in the 80th minute when Torquay's Simon Rayner fouled Richard Logan in the box.

Ben Watson coolly slotted home the resulting spot kick to put the club's on even terms and set up a tense finish to the game.

Torquay seemed to lose their focus and fell further behind in the 89th minute after Richard Logan headed in from the centre of the penalty area.

With just a handful of minutes left on the clock, Exeter's Wayne Carlisle landed the knockout punch with a left-footed shot into the bottom-left corner.

The Grecians can now look forward to facing the winner of the other play-off semi final, which will take place on Tuesday evening.

Cambridge United and Burton Albion played to a 2-2 draw in their first leg tie.
