Richard Brodie
York City moved to within touching distance of safety with a 2-1 victory over Forest Green Rovers at KitKat Crescent on Tuesday night.
After an even affair in the first half, the hosts burst into life after what must have been a stern teamtalk from Martin Foyle during the break.
The Minstermen took the lead on 59 minutes when Adam Boyes latched onto a loose ball inside the area.
It was 2-0 to the home side in the 63rd minute when Richard Brodie fired his shot into the back of the net from the edge of the penalty area.
Foyle's side seemed to switch off after the second goal had gone in and were made to pay shortly before full time when Marcus Palmer sent ripples through the net.
There was little time for the visitors to find a winning goal and the hosts played out the remaining minutes in a cautious manner to make sure the points stayed at KitKat Crescent.
York are now just a point away from securing their Blue Square Premier status for another season, while Rovers occupy 17th place with 52 points.
York bookings: None.
Forest Green bookings: None.
Attendance: 2,164.
Referee: M Naylor.
