Barrow AFC ended their season on a high after recording a 2-0 victory over Eastbourne Borough at Priory Lane on Sunday afternoon.
The Bluebirds were spared a nerve-wracking final day of the season after York beat Weymouth on Friday evening to seal the relegation places.
And with their safety already assured, Barrow produced an assured performance to give joint managers David Bayliss and Darren Sheridan reason to celebrate.
The visitors finally got the breakthrough they were looking for in the 70th minute when Mark Boyd found the top-left corner with a speculative volley from way out.
Barrow sealed the victory three minutes from time when Andrew Bond collected a pass from Jason Walker and fired a shot from deep inside the penalty area which rifled into the back of the net.
Eastbourne substitute Jack Jeffery had glorious opportunity to pull one back two minutes later but fired wide of the right-hand upright.
Despite the defeat, the Sports can take heart from an impressive finish in the league standings on their Blue Square Premier debut.
