Tim Sills
Torquay United took a massive step towards the play-off final after they beat Histon 2-0 in the first leg of their play-off semi final on Friday night.
The Gulls showed the greater desire in the match and deserved to walk away with their big advantage.
Nicky Wroe grabbed the opening goal of the game for the home side after 36 minutes.
Wroe picked up a Wayne Carlisle pass before smashing home from 12 yards out.
The visitors came out strongly in the second period and nearly equalised through Jack Midson, but the forward saw his effort well blocked by Chris Todd.
The Stutes were made to pay for that miss as the home side doubled their lead on 74 minutes.
Lee Mansell put an inviting cross into the area and Tim Sills made sure the ball found the back of the net past a despairing Joe Welch in the Histon goal.
The home side managed to fight hard in defence for the remaining minutes to secure a big advantage going into the second leg.
