Hammett handed a trial at Weston

Blue Square South club Weston-Super-Mare have handed forward Andy Hammett a trial after he decided to leave Principality Welsh Premier side Neath Athletic.

The 23-year-old, who is a product of the Newport County academy, will train with Weston until the January transfer window opens.

Hammett is still under contract with Neath and will only be allowed to don Weston's jersey once the window opens.

Weston manager Tony Ricketts told NonLeagueDaily: "Andy is on contract at Neath until January so nothing will happen until then because we wouldn't get international clearance.

"He is a big, strong striker and we will have a good look at him.

"Neath have given him permission to train with us so we will have a look over the next few weeks and see what happens - January is not so far away now."
